My presentation was based on an eight week project which took place at Cranstoun Community Drug Action Group in Portsmouth. The aim of the project was to enable those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction to develop their creative writing skills as a means of assisting recovery.

Cranstoun provides a comprehensive range of services in the Portsmouth area and works in partnership with other local services to help people into, through and out of drug and alchohol treatment services.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I teach students with specific learning difficulties at South Downs College where I’m also the Support Needs Co-ordinator for students with mental health concerns. I live in Southsea where I run Tongues & Grooves, a poetry and music club. My first full poetry collection, The Zig Zag Woman, was published by Two Ravens Press in 2007. I have an MA with distinction in Creative Writing and am an experienced workshop facilitator.
