Spreading the Word on Writing and Health - MAKING SOUP

An experiential introduction to reflexive writing practice for counsellors and therapists.

Sandy Hutchinson Nunns

Making Soup introduced 12 participants to reflexive writing practice for therapeutic purposes. The course took place in a library and was aimed at newly-qualified and volunteer counsellors and, whilst no stipulations were made, all respondents were female and all between the ages of 30 and 55. The weeks were divided into the stages and ingredients of making soup, with each week focusing on a different aspect of reflexive writing practice. An attempt was made to introduce participants to wide variety of established writing practitioners and how to use them in practice for themselves and with their clients.
