The news from Cornwall is that we are focusing on plans for our 'year of writing for wellbeing' in 2015.
'Peer learning' workshops are taking place on the following dates: 11 July, 12 Sept, 3 October (with John Killick), and 14 November.
Lapidus in Cornwall is running a series of workshops and events under the banner of Spread the Word, our campaign to raise awareness of writing for wellbeing in the county. We kicked off on 14 March with an inspiring day in Penryn, led by Steve Potter who encouraged us to write letters to 'Dear Cornwall' or to other homes ad places that are important to us.
Looking further ahead, on Saturday 13 June Marilyn Denbigh will lead a workshop based on ideas gleaned from her recent visit to the National Association of Poetry Therapy conference in Asheville, USA (which she won a scholarship to attend). Marilyn is training to be a counsellor/psychotherapist whilst simultaneously studying with the International Federation of Biblio and Poetry Therapy. She runs therapeutic writing workshops at Sea Sanctuary in Falmouth.
On Saturday 11 July Mary Lunnen will lead a workshop using her Dare to Blossom Redisovery cards as prompts; an opportunity to 'Rediscover your Inner wisdom and come home to yourself.' Mary will invite the group to write and reflect, sharing as much or as little as you wish. Over a period of three years, the cards have proved a valuable tool in coaching and inner vision. To quote just one testimonial: "It has been such a positive experience using the cards in my journaling - affirming, insightful and fruitful."
We plan to pop up at a number of festivals over the summer, including a Spread the Word event as part of the Penryn Festival in May, and we are applying for funding to support writing sessions in libraries around the country that do not at the moment offer writing among their events and services.
