Beyond Text Workshop 2018

Thursday 22nd March 2018, 09:30 - 16:00

Storyhouse, Hunter Street, Chester CH1 2AR

The Beyond Text team invite practitioners and researchers from all disciplines to attend an exciting open workshop at Storyhouse, which will support participants to conduct high quality arts-based research, assessment and evaluation through practice.

Come to meet colleagues from across Europe and Palestine, who are shaping arts-based tools and methodologies in their diverse professional contexts and disciplines, and share practice-based experiences. The workshop programme offers a mixed format of sessions in Chester's cultural heart, including:

  • - Presentations about the use of arts-based methods in STEM
  • - Demonstrations of arts-based methods in research within and beyond the university
  • - Opportunities to participate in the use of arts-based methods (such as performative and visual arts,        dérive, found poetry and zines) in research, assessment and evaluation
  • - Refreshments will be provided and there will be opportunities for informal conversations.

Please register by Thursday 15 March 2018 via the Eventbrite page:https://beyondtext2018.eventbrite.co.uk

Si Poole, Senior Lead of Cultural Education and Research at Storyhouse and Programme Leader for the MA Creative Practice in Education at the University of Chester, said:

"New understandings, new methodologies for a new building and organisation.  Storyhouse is beyond excited to be involved in such a research project.  Enabling and sharing the best of learning and research in arts-based practices brokers precisely the kind of close relationship that Storyhouse hopes to engage with between culture and learning.  Especially if it enhances public benefit and develops international networks of the kind that this project does."
